The holidays are a wonderful time of the year. They bring out the best in people, especially when it comes to helping those less fortunate.
Once again, our loyal friends and donors made sure the children had a wonderful and memorable Christmas and holiday season. This, of course, includes presents . . . lots of presents.
Beginning as early as September, our sites work diligently to ensure that each child receives their holiday wishes. To having giving trees in area businesses to a holiday mail solicitation to unsolicited gifts from strangers, the children’s wishes were, once again, answered.
In all, approximately 1,300 gifts were donated to the approximately 260 children in CONCERN’s care. With these gifts came memories that will last a lifetime.
On behalf of the children, thank you for these many gifts, but more importantly, thank you for giving the children so many wonderful memories.
As grateful as we are to all of our donors, we wish to highlight a couple that were a little out of the ordinary.
Usborne Books and More
Amanda Koch, consultant for Usborne Books and More, wanted to help disadvantaged children and being a Fleetwood resident, she turned to CONCERN to offer a generous gift just in time for the holidays. This gift was the gift of reading.
Amanda organized a fundraiser and raised $250 and with those dollars she was able to purchase a variety of 20 titles, including boxed sets that could be enjoyed by infants to teenagers.
Usborne Books and More is a division of Educational Development Corporation that distributes books through independent consultants who sell directly to the consumer via home shows, direct sales, book fairs, and websites.
Arthur J. Gallagher & Co.
On November 26, 2018, CONCERN received 124 coats from Arthur J. Gallagher & Co., a global insurance brokerage and risk management services firm, as part of their Coats for Kids program.
According to Pepper Krach, Area Vice President, Marketing & Communications Mid-Atlantic Region, “Community is an essential part of life at Gallagher. We know that our environment shapes who we are and what we become, so we make an effort to give back and help nurture the lives of young people in our own community.”
The Coats for Kids program began in 2012 and during the past six years, Gallagher Mid-Atlantic has donated over 1,000 coats to children in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. This year alone, $7,000 was raised and 380 coats purchased, more than doubling their efforts from the year before.
Stated Ms. Krach, “We’re proud to be a part of this great community and proud to make this holiday season a little warmer.”
