Lifebooks Produced Through Grants

For most of us, there is hardly a question about our heritage, background or roots. Unfortunately, this is not always the case for children residing long-term in foster care or who are in the midst of being adopted.

Through the personalized Lifebooks, children in care through the Greater Berks regional office will have:

• a history of their lives
• photos and reports from their school years
• information about their families

What are Lifebooks?

Lifebooks are not just scrapbooks or photo albums; they are children’s own autobiographies wrapped up in messages, pictures and memories. Lifebooks are kept by the children with assistance from caseworkers and foster/adoptive parents. The three-ring binder for each child includes over 45 pages or envelopes for moments in a child’s life, along with 15 photo pages. In addition to photo pages, school pages are printed on white envelopes so children can save important school papers and projects.

Based on the success of this project in the Greater Berks region, the Lifebook project is being duplicated for foster children through CONCERN.

Funding
