Types of Counseling Services

Services below are listed from least restrictive to most restrictive.

Employee Assistance Programs (EAP)

Employee Assistance Program (EAP) services are provided through CONCERN’s Bethlehem, Fleetwood, Wyomissing, Mansfield, and Towanda offices.

Employee Assistance Programs (EAP) for large and small businesses are available.  CONCERN’s EAP programs assist employees, and in some cases, immediate family members, with the identification and resolution of personal matters that may impact workplace performance. Consultation, referrals, groups, educational seminars, etc. are also examples of services that CONCERN’s EAP services offers.

Outpatient Counseling

Outpatient Counseling services are provided through CONCERN’s Bethlehem, Fleetwood, Mansfield, Wyomissing, and Towanda offices.

Outpatient Counseling is provided to children, adolescents, adults, and families at CONCERN’s confidential, licensed outpatient clinic sites in Mansfield, Towanda, Bethlehem, Wyomissing, and Fleetwood. Outpatient sites are also staffed by psychiatrists who provide evaluative and medication management services. In CONCERN’s rural offices, including Towanda and Mansfield, Telepsychiatry is a convenient option for clients to receive needed psychiatric care where limited face to face psychiatric care time is available in rural locations, such as Towanda and Mansfield.

CONCERN provides confidential outpatient counseling services on a wide range of issues that arise in the day-to-day problems of living. Some of the types of help are:

  • individual counseling
  • family counseling
  • marital counseling
  • group counseling
  • psychological evaluations
  • psychiatric evaluations
  • medication management
  • special services for abused children, including expressive art therapies
  • pre and post adoptive counseling
  • Employee Assistance Programs
  • workshops, seminars, and presentations

School-based Outpatient Services

School-based Outpatient Counseling services are provided through CONCERN’s Fleetwood office.

School-based Outpatient Services are provided within the school district. Children and adolescents are offered counseling services by Master’s level clinicians within his/her school, thereby increasing access to services. Referrals are made through the guidance office, students, parents, or the school Student Assistance Program (SAP) liaison. Services include individual, group, and family therapy, as well as educational and professional trainings delivered to school staff and parents.

Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT)

Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) services are provided through CONCERN’s Fleetwood and Mansfield (as of April 2014) offices.

Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) is an outpatient specialized therapy available in CONCERN’s Fleetwood office for children ages 2 ½ to age 7 with behavioral concerns.  The therapist works closely with the parent/caregiver for approximately 12 to 20 weeks.  Therapists observe the parent and child’s interactions, and via the use of technology including ear buds, the therapist coaches the parent from behind an observation mirror how to effectively promote positive behaviors in their child. 

Behavioral Health Rehabilitative Services

Behavioral Health Rehabilitative Services are provided through CONCERN’s Bethlehem, Fleetwood, Lewisburg, WyomissingTowanda, and Wellsboro offices.

Behavioral Health Rehabilitative Service (BHRS) is an individualized, strengths-based approach to the treatment of children and youth with the goal of maintaining the child/adolescent in the home, school, and community.  Services may include psychiatric/psychological evaluations, behavioral specialist consultation, mobile therapy, and therapeutic staff support. Goals include increasing positive behaviors, as well as the teaching and transference of real-life skills to clients and family members, so as to empower families to manage problematic behaviors independently.

Crisis Intervention Services

Crisis Intervention Services are provided through CONCERN’s Mansfield and Towanda offices.

Crisis Intervention Services provide a rapid response to crisis situations to clients of all ages who exhibit acute symptoms. Clients are provided appropriate counseling, consultation, referral, resolution, linkage, and follow-up.  Crisis intervention services include: Telephone, Mobile, and Walk-In. Mobile crisis services are delivered to clients in situations deemed unmanageable through telephonic intervention. Crisis staff will travel to meet the client and render services on-site, in the home, community, etc. Walk-in crisis hours are available during business hours in CONCERN’s rural offices and assist those experiencing a mental health emergency. Telephonic and Mobile Crisis Intervention Services are provided 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.

Family Based Mental Health Services

Family-Based Mental Health Services in the following counties: Tioga, Bradford/Sullivan, and Potter are provided through CONCERN’s Towanda and Wellsboro offices.

Family-Based Mental Health Services in the following counties: Northumberland, Schuylkill, Monroe, and Carbon are provided through CONCERN’s Fleetwood offices.

Family Based Mental Health Services (FBMH) are intensive, team-delivered services provided in the home and community and designed to integrate mental health treatment, family support services, and case management. The goal of FBMH treatment is to help children and adolescents with a serious mental health diagnosis remain with their family in the community.

Partial Hospitalization Program

Partial Hospitalization Program services are provided through CONCERN’s  Wellsboro office.

Partial Hospitalization provides three hours of mental health treatment programming per day in the form of group, individual, and family therapy, as well as psychiatric and psychological services to clients in grades kindergarten through twelfth. The educational component of the program is provided by the local school district, and CONCERN Counseling Services provides the mental health treatment component.
